Summer of 1967 my ex and I drove with his brother, Michael Johnson, to California. Michael was going to be part of a folk group managed by Randy Sparks.

We camped as we drove west through the hot desert, sleeping on the top of our VW bus. There were stars everywhere. Somehow PJ and I ended up in Haight Ashbury and then headed north and played music across Canada.
In the global view of time and space, the man who was destined to become my true love, Arthur Evans, spent the summer of 1967 in Memphis, TN, in dental school. Worlds apart at the time.
This is one of my earliest songs and it feels typical of the era. Here it is Raw (from rehearsal cassettes in London 1968) and Spiced and Seasoned by Rushy Beesley (2022)

Raw, Spiced, and Seasoned is both the newest and oldest recording. You can listen on BandCamp.com for the full collection (Thank you QTN) or check out www.crowspun.com (my website).

Chef Greg, you’ve made m’day!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely.
DM, Thank you very much.
Thanks for sharing this. As an 8 year old, we spent desert time en route to a year’s worth of fruit harvest on the coast before settling down in eastern Oklahoma. Later, in my early twenties, I crossed the deserts every week for about a year as an interstate trucker, solo. I often stopped to cook my breakfast and supper and catch the desert sunrise and sunset.
Lovely song. And great spice and seasoning. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Steve. The fun stretched across a bunch of years. Glad you enjoyed it.
