Getting my head out of the blossoms.

Despite the rampant political dysfunction, there are and have been pretty amazing bright spots in my corner of the planet.
I’ve been getting to know my custom Martin guitar. What a treasure. It is a one-of-a-kind, designed to play my open tuning, with a 000 body and cutaway. The 6th string is a 70 tuned to a B. She has a rich and deep tone. Sweetie Berry took this photo the first minute I saw the guitar.
For you non-guitar players, it’s like mixing apples and oranges, but it works. It is asking a soprano to sing both soprano and bass in the same song.
Now getting my chops together is another story, but I will spare you the litany of disclaimers. Janet Feld, teacher of “Badass Guitar I and II”, has been a treasure of tips and exercises for playing and learning guitar.
She and I have a Zoom date most weeks to co-write songs. I’m delighted by our results. When you see Janet, ask her to play “Mesquite Maggie” for you.
Possum Holler is bursting with blooms. Arthur’s gardening year-round sure is showing off this May 2025. Today, it’s the Yellow wood tree’s turn to shine. Tomorrow will hold another surprise.
